International Folklore Dance Festival of Greece
Yunfire represented Taiwan’s performing arts community in Greece, invited to tour in two major cultural festivals: the Agrinio International Folklore Festival and the Cultural Gate – International Traditional Culture Festival.
Throughout the journey of performances and festive parades, we traveled across five cities. In the central square of Agrinio, we saw the flags waving in the air, and we remembered our final performance in Patras, one of Greece’s three major cities.
There, a group of children gathered in front of the stage backdrop, curiously pointing at the flags of different nations. Suddenly, one child read aloud: “Ταιβάν” — Taiwan.
At that moment, behind the stage, our hearts were overcome with an indescribable emotion.
The Agrinio International Folklore Festival in Greece celebrates the value of traditional culture and folk arts, bringing together delegations from eleven countries, including Taiwan.
At the exchange gathering, we shared Taiwan’s spirit of inclusivity and were grateful to connect with Greece and other nations. Our performances received warm applause and were featured by local media under the headline “Ταιβάν” (Taiwan). We look forward to future collaborations and cultural exchanges on international stages.
