Song of the Earth

Song of the Earth

About.

The “Song of the Earth” series was initiated by the Hsinchu Symphony Wind Orchestra and, since 2022, has been developed in collaboration with YUNFIRE INFERNO Fire Dance Troupe through cross-disciplinary collective creation. Each year, the project gives rise to new works inspired by the landscapes and cultural heritage of Taiwan’s Hakka communities.

Bridging the artistic forces of Yunlin and Hsinchu, the series aims to tour towns across Taiwan. Since 2023, it has also reached international audiences, with performances in Kumamoto, Japan, showcasing Hakka-inspired theatrical creations that foster cultural exchange between Taiwan and the world.

Song of the Earth Series

2022

《田園交響曲-湖口》

Inspired by the Sanyuan Temple and the Shifu Spring Banquet in Hukou, this immersive concert invites the audience to wander through the countryside and enjoy a performance within. The performance includes music, drama, and dance, and features LED screens, composing the song of the earth at night. This is the first immersive concert of its kind in Taiwan.

《流轉風城》

Using the I Ching as its content and Tai Chi as its imagery, the changing seasons are presented through poetry and song, supplemented by music, drama, and dance. The content gradually becomes complex and finally blends into one.

"The great way is simple, but it leads to complexity. The virtual and the real are created by nature, and the sound flows."

The performance alternates between reality and illusion, blends movement and stillness, and interweaves classical and contemporary performing arts. The content explores the essence of all things, the elements of art, and even more so, the meaning of life.

2023

Beipu Township

《聲个流轉》

The production boasts a more diverse and richer variety, combining two of Hsinchu's most distinctive characteristics: Hakka culture and technological art. Using technological projections, LED dancers, traditional opera, and fragrance as media, the innovative performance format invites audiences to experience the four seasons of Hsinchu through hearing, sight, and smell.

2024

《時間个河》

A series of performances were created based on the moat of Hsinchu City. These included the environmental theater production "The River of Time," performed by a local group along the moat, and the indoor theater production "The River of Time," which was invited to Kumamoto Prefecture, along with a series of extended performances.
